Cloud vs On-Premise Comparison

FactorOn-PremiseCloud (AWS, Azure, etc.)
Initial CostHigh (hardware, licenses)Low (pay-as-you-go)
Monthly CostLow (electricity, maintenance)Varies with data size
ScalabilityRequires hardware upgradesInstant, unlimited
Offsite ProtectionManual (tape rotation)Built-in (geographic redundancy)
Recovery SpeedFast (local network)Depends on internet speed
ManagementIn-house IT requiredManaged by provider

Disaster Recovery Runbook

Scenario 1: Ransomware Attack

  1. Isolate infected systems from network immediately
  2. Contact Rocket IT Solutions: (970) 627-7189
  3. Do NOT pay ransom - verify backup integrity first
  4. Restore from last clean backup (usually 24-48 hours prior)
  5. Scan restored systems before reconnecting to network
  6. Document incident for insurance claim

Scenario 2: Server Hardware Failure

  1. Assess if repair or replacement is faster
  2. If replacement needed, deploy spare server or cloud VM
  3. Restore latest backup to new hardware
  4. Update DNS/network configuration to point to new server
  5. Test all applications before declaring service restored
  6. Estimated time: 4-8 hours
